How often to service a Harley depends on model and year. Many late-model Big Twins have a first service at around 1,600 km, then a service roughly every 8,000 km. Always follow the schedule in your owner’s manual.
Harley maintenance checklist
- Engine, primary and transmission oil, plus filter
- Belt tension and condition
- Brake pad thickness and fluid condition
- Tyre pressure and tread
- Clutch free play (cable clutches)
- Battery voltage and terminals
- Air filter
- Spark plugs at the interval your manual lists
Perth heat is hard on oil and batteries, so check both more often over summer.
